President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (Nov. 17) called on the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) to support efforts to maintain the country’s economic stability, during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat.

The discussion, held at the request of the GMOA, focused on the importance of safeguarding the economy, which collapsed in 2022 but has since been stabilised. President Dissanayake emphasized that preserving this stability remains a key priority of his government.

Acknowledging the vital role of the health sector, he assured that the government has no plans to cut benefits or facilities for medical professionals. “The country must be rebuilt together, without creating a situation where you keep asking and I simply keep giving,” he said, urging collective responsibility in the nation’s reform process.
