Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan has seen two key players return home, with captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando withdrawing from the upcoming tri-nation series due to illness.

Both players, who were part of the initial squad, will not feature in the tri-series involving Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe. Team management stated that the precautionary decision was taken to ensure the duo receives proper medical care and adequate time to recover ahead of future international commitments.

With Asalanka unavailable, former white-ball captain Dasun Shanaka has been appointed to lead the Sri Lankan side for the duration of the series.

Meanwhile, Pavan Rathnayake has been added to the T20I squad as a replacement player.
