Sri Lanka signs loan agreements with ADB to obtain US$ 300 Million

The Government of Sri Lanka today (17) signed loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to secure US$ 300 million in financial assistance.

The agreements were signed at the Treasury in Colombo by Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka. Takafumi Kadono, Country Director of the ADB Sri Lanka Resident Mission, signed on behalf of the Asian Development Bank.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the loan will be utilized to support ongoing economic stabilization efforts, development initiatives, and structural reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s financial and administrative systems.

The government noted that the funding is expected to contribute significantly to Sri Lanka’s recovery path as the nation continues to navigate post-crisis economic challenges
