Sri Lanka’s tourism sector marked a significant milestone today as the arrival of foreign tourists in 2025 crossed the 2 million mark. The landmark was reached with the arrival of French nationals Raphael Caron and his wife Claire Charlet at Katunayake Airport.
The couple, residents of Paris, arrived on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-504 from London, England at 1:30 PM. They are scheduled to spend two weeks in Sri Lanka, engaging in sightseeing and shopping. Mr. Caron works as a financial manager in France.
Ms. Anusha Damayanthi, Director of Administration and Human Resources of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, along with senior officials of the bureau and the Airport and Aviation Services Company Limited, were present at the airport to welcome the visitors.
Tourism officials said the milestone reflects the continued recovery and growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, highlighting the country’s appeal as a global travel destination.
