NPC orders major reshuffle in senior police ranks

The National Police Commission (NPC) has announced a series of significant transfers and appointments involving several senior police officers, aimed at reorganising key divisions within the Sri Lanka Police.

Accordingly, Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne has been transferred from his position as Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province and appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of Police Administration.

Senior DIG S.C. Medawatte, who previously served as the Senior DIG for Training and Advanced Training, has been assigned as the new Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province.

Senior DIG Ranmal Kodituwakku has been tasked with additional responsibilities, receiving the appointment to oversee the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Directorate while continuing as the Senior DIG in charge of the Crime and Traffic Directorate.

In further changes, Senior DIG T.C.A. Dhanapala has been transferred from the Northern Province to assume duties as the Senior DIG in charge of the North Central Province.

Senior DIG G.M.H.B. Siriwardena, who was previously covering duties at Police Headquarters and serving as the Senior DIG for the North Central Province, has now been appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of the Northern Province.

Meanwhile, DIG N.L.C. Sampath Kumara has been appointed as the new DIG in charge of the Special Task Force (STF).
