Rajasthan Royals have undertaken a major overhaul of their squad ahead of the 2026 IPL season, releasing several key players, including Sri Lankan stars Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, along with Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi.
On the domestic front, the franchise has parted ways with Akash Madhwal, Ashok Sharma, Kunal Rathore, and Kumar Kartikeya. Among them, Madhwal brings notable IPL experience, having previously featured prominently for the Mumbai Indians.
Hasaranga and Theekshana were part of RR’s 2025 roster after being picked up at the mega auction held in Jeddah.
- Hasaranga, acquired for ₹5.25 crore, contributed his proven T20 skill set featuring incisive leg-spin and useful lower-order batting. He had earlier represented Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- Theekshana, known for his clever variations, joined RR after a stint with Chennai Super Kings, where he played 27 matches and claimed 25 wickets.
