In a post on X, Rajapaksa stated that although ITAK will not take part in the rally, he considered it important to update the party on the event’s objectives and the issues the opposition plans to raise regarding what he described as the government’s unfulfilled promises.
According to Rajapaksa, both parties also shared the view that the repeatedly delayed provincial council elections must be conducted without any further postponement. He stressed that the polls are crucial for strengthening provincial-level governance and should be held in accordance with constitutional requirements.
