The Netherlands National Archives officially handed over a high-tech scanning machine to the Sri Lanka National Archives yesterday (14).

The handover ceremony was held at the National Archives in Colombo under the patronage of Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, and Ambassador of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka, Weibe De Boer.

The donated scanner, an i2S SupraScan A1, is one of the most advanced digitization devices currently in use globally.

According to the Department of National Archives, the new equipment will significantly enhance efforts to digitize and preserve a wide range of valuable historical documents.
