A total of 160 MPs voted in favour, while 42 voted against. Twenty-two MPs were absent at the time of the vote.
Notably, opposition MPs Mano Ganesan, V. Radhakrisnan, P. Digambaram, and Jeevan Thondaman backed the Budget, citing the government’s proposed wage increase for estate sector workers as their reason for supporting the vote.
Meanwhile, MPs of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) abstained from voting during the second reading.
