The Castle Street Hospital for Women has confirmed the birth of conjoined twin girls earlier this week hospital officials said.
According to Hospital Director Dr. Ajith Danthanarayana, the mother, a 29-year-old from Pannala, delivered the twins via Caesarean section. One twin weighed 2.2 kg, with a combined weight of 4.4 kg, and both are reported to be in stable condition.
The twins are joined at the abdomen, and a separation surgery is planned at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in approximately three months. After a recovery period, the twins will be admitted to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for further evaluation and surgical preparation.
