Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake has announced his retirement from the post and the state service, effective today (13).
Issuing a statement, Ratnayake said he had served as a state official for the past 34 years.
He was appointed as the Commissioner General of Elections on 16th October 2019 and has since played a key role in overseeing several major electoral processes in the country.
In his statement, Ratnayake extended his gratitude to all former and current Presidential Secretaries, officials of various state institutions, former and current ministers and Parliamentarians, as well as members of the media, for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure.
