Fourteen new check-in counters were officially opened at Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, on Sunday (10) as part of a pilot project.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the construction of these counters was completed within just one month.

The project has been implemented to enhance passenger convenience during the winter travel season, which typically sees a surge in tourist arrivals through the airport.

SLTDA stated that this marks a significant step forward in improving the overall tourism experience in Sri Lanka, with expectations that passenger handling capacity and efficiency will further increase in response to rising demand.
