The Opening Ceremony of Exercise Mithra Shakthi 2025 was ceremonially held on 10 November 2025 at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belagavi (Belgaum), Karnataka, India, marking the commencement of the long-standing bilateral military training exercise between the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army.

The event was graced by Brigadier Ananda Kumara, who attended as the Chief Guest. Senior Officers from both armies, including the Indian Contingent Commander and the Director of the Sri Lanka Contingent, were also present at the occasion and addressed the gathering.

In their remarks, the speakers emphasised the enduring friendship, mutual respect and professional collaboration that have characterised the relationship between the two neighbouring militaries.

They highlighted the significance of joint exercises such as Mithra Shakthi in enhancing interoperability, fostering mutual trust and sharing tactical knowledge and operational expertise in areas including counter-terrorism counter-insurgency, and conventional operations.
