A 25-year-old man accused of raping and impregnating a minor girl has been arrested by the Monaragala Divisional Crime Investigation Unit after evading capture for nearly a year.
The suspect, a resident of Badulla, had reportedly fled the area following the incident and had been employed at a livestock farm in Guruthalawa.
Police said investigations were launched in August 2024 based on a complaint filed by the victim. The suspect was arrested on Monday (10) and later handed over to the Wellawaya Police for further investigation.
