Ramith Rambukwella, son of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, was today (11) formally indicted before the Colombo High Court on charges related to the unlawful accumulation of assets.
The case was taken up before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption presenting the indictment.
The charges allege that Rambukwella failed to properly declare assets and funds amounting to Rs. 275.3 million, out of a total income of Rs. 296.5 million, received between January 1, 2022, and November 14, 2023, during his tenure as personal secretary to his father.
Following the reading of the indictment, he was released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million each. The court also ordered that his fingerprints be obtained and called for a relevant report.
The case has been filed under the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act and is expected to be taken up again on a future date.
