Police have reported a sharp increase in motorcycle and three-wheeler thefts across the Western Province, including Colombo City, over the past few days.
According to police, a significant number of complaints have been received regarding vehicles stolen while parked on roadsides.
In the past two days alone (8th and 9th), 10 motorcycles and three three-wheelers have been reported stolen in various areas of the province.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wutler said that special investigation teams have been deployed to trace the stolen vehicles and apprehend those involved.
The public has been urged to take extra precautions when parking vehicles in public areas and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
