The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has announced the nomination of Rasika Priyankara for the post of Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, following the tragic death of former Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekera, who was recently murdered.
The election to appoint the new Chairman is scheduled to be held on November 21, according to party sources.
Rasika Priyankara is recognized as a close associate and long-time political ally of the late Wickramasekera, having supported and worked with him since the early stages of his political journey.
Party officials stated that the decision reflects a commitment to continue Wickramasekera’s vision and maintain stability within the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha.
