The meeting was attended by SLFP Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva, along with Duminda Dissanayake, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Namal Rajapaksa said the discussions focused on uniting opposition parties to expose what he called the government’s falsehoods and unfulfilled promises.
“After several years, we returned here to discuss the upcoming rally that will reveal the government’s lies to the public,” he said. He criticized the government for failing to deliver on commitments from the last budget and questioned the procurement of double cab vehicles intended for MPs.
SLFP National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake emphasized that the rally aims to highlight government deception and injustice, not to demand an election. He noted that, despite policy differences, opposition parties are coming together for the people. Dissanayake also predicted a setback for the government in future elections, citing a shift from earlier promises that had mobilized youth and students.
The opposition rally on November 21 is expected to see participation from multiple parties in a unified effort to challenge the government’s narrative.
