The Colombo High Court has dismissed a preliminary objection raised by the defendants in a corruption case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and former Director General of the Board of Investment (BOI) Jayantha Edirisinghe.
The objection argued that the case could not proceed under the existing legal framework. However, Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal ruled today that the case can continue as filed.
Following the decision, the court ordered the case to be taken up again for a pre-trial conference on December 16.
