A 24-year-old third-year student of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has died after sustaining severe head injuries in a fall at her home in Handessa, Kandy.
The victim, identified as H.M.L.D. Jayathilaka, was on study leave preparing for an examination scheduled for December when the accident occurred.
She was admitted to the Kandy National Hospital and treated at the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit, but later succumbed to her injuries.
The Galaha Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
