Seven Drug Traffickers hiding in Middle East agree to surrender

Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala revealed today (09) that seven top-level suspects involved in drug trafficking operations based in the Middle East have been identified and that police are prepared to take necessary action against them.

The Minister stated that the locations from which these individuals operate have already been traced.

He further noted that the public has shown a strong response to the 1818 hotline, introduced for providing information related to the national drug eradication program.

A special discussion on the drug prevention program was held today (09) at the Colombo District Secretariat, chaired by Minister Wijepala.

Minister Harshana Rajakaruna, Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala, Members of Parliament Lakshman Nipunarachchi, Chandana Sooriyaarachchi, and Dewananda Suraveera, along with Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya, security officials, and government officers also participated in the meeting.
