Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that seven Sri Lankan drug traffickers currently hiding in countries in the Middle East have expressed their willingness to surrender to local law enforcement authorities.

The Minister made this revelation during the Colombo District Operation Program of the “Ratam Ekata” National Anti-Narcotics Campaign held at the Colombo District Secretariat.

He stated that steps are being taken to coordinate with foreign governments and relevant agencies to facilitate their return, adding that the government is committed to dismantling both local and overseas drug networks linked to Sri Lanka.
