The Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs has launched a program to train 300 new counselors to strengthen Sri Lanka’s drug prevention initiatives.

According to the Ministry, the training aims to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of counselors engaged in community-level drug prevention and rehabilitation activities. The program was conducted under the guidance of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB), which functions under the purview of the Ministry.

Officials noted that preliminary measures have already been implemented to expand treatment, rehabilitation, and counseling services for individuals battling drug addiction across the island.

The Ministry emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to curb the growing drug menace through prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs nationwide.
