A part of a human fetus has been discovered in a toilet on the 4th floor of the Wijewardena Women’s Hostel at the University of Peradeniya, police said.
According to the Peradeniya Police, the discovery was made following a complaint lodged by the Deputy Headmistress in charge of the hostel.
Police officers who visited the scene have handed over the fetal remains to the Peradeniya Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Peradeniya Police.
