The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has revised the maximum loan-to-value ratios for vehicle leasing facilities. Under the new regulations, leasing for commercial vehicles will be allowed up to 70%, while the limit for private-use vehicles has been reduced to 50%.
Until now, leasing rates were divided into four categories: 80% for commercial vehicles, 60% for private vehicles, 50% for three-wheelers and 70% for other vehicles. With the latest move, the Central Bank has simplified the structure to just two categories, covering:
- Commercial vehicles — Maximum leasing up to 70%
- Private vehicles, including cars, vans, three-wheelers and others — Maximum leasing up to 50%
