Sri Lanka’s Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa, has underscored the importance of sustained cooperation between Colombo and New Delhi to ensure Sri Lanka’s long-term economic stability.

Speaking on NDTV’s India Ascends Mr., Premadasa discussed the future of India–Sri Lanka relations, the growing influence of China in the Indo-Pacific region, and Sri Lanka’s fragile financial situation.

He cautioned that with debt repayments scheduled to resume in 2028, the nation’s economy is likely to face renewed strain. Therefore, he stressed that continued assistance from India will be vital in helping Sri Lanka navigate its economic recovery and achieve sustainable growth.

Mr.Premadasa also reiterated that a strong partnership between the two nations would not only strengthen regional stability but also open pathways for mutual development and prosperity.
