The Embassy of France in Colombo has announced that two French cable ships are set to be constructed in Sri Lanka, marking a significant boost to global connectivity efforts.

According to the Embassy, global cable ship operator Orange Marine has selected Colombo Dockyard PLC to build the two new vessels. Orange Marine is a key international player in the installation and maintenance of submarine communication cables, which support global internet and telecommunication networks.

The construction of the ships in Sri Lanka is expected to enhance Orange Marine’s fleet capacity and play a vital role in strengthening underwater cable infrastructure worldwide.
