Sri Lankan ambassador to Israel Mr. Nimal Bandara told Ziradaily that foreign immigrant workers travelling alone by groups made up of small groups have been hanged and launched the liquid attacks, and three Sri Lankans who have been attacked so far have informed the embassy.
Accordingly, we informed the Israel's Foreign Ministry and Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) about this and asked to take formal steps towards the safety of foreign employees including Sri Lankans.
In the background, Israel's Dimona Police Station has arrested 5 young men aged 13-19 and sentenced 6 days in prison for the first attack. Other incidents will be investigated through information received from CCTV cameras etc.
The Israeli society is working very peacefully with foreign workers and it is very rare to report youth involvement in such incidents. Young girls over 18 receive two years of military training while young people over 18 receive 3 years of military training. It has been noticed that more civil society people use those weapons against anyone in the civil society who had automatic weapons and pistols.
Israeli Security are focusing on this current reported situation and inform Sri Lankans to follow the following routes until the below situation is resolved.
1. Foreign employees will get salaries in the next few days and travel as a group giving every chance they can while traveling to Sri Lanka
2. Going down safe keeping your own money wallet and jewelry etc.
3. Keeping valuable phones safe and not using them while travelling.
4. In any emergency, call the emergency number 100 regarding the civil activities of Israeli police and giving them information on the place of the incident.
5. Using number 101 to call for Israel ambulance service which provides free of cost at any time that needs treatment
For any emergency assistance, Sri Lankans in Israel are advised to call the embassy immediate call number. (0094718447305 Whatsapp)

Press Release
Clarification on Chemical Water Cannon Attacks Targeting Foreign Migrant Workers in Israel
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel has been alerted to recent reports circulating on social media regarding chemical water cannon attacks targeting foreign workers.
It has been reported that small groups have launched these water cannon attacks against foreign migrant workers, particularly those traveling alone. As of now, three Sri Lankans who were attacked have informed the Embassy.
In response, we have officially notified the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA), requesting that formal measures be taken to ensure the safety of foreign workers, including Sri Lankans.
In connection with the first attack, the Dimona Police Station in Israel has arrested five youths, aged between 13 and 19, who have been detained for six days. Investigations are ongoing, with CCTV footage and other information being used to probe additional incidents.
Israeli society generally treats foreign workers with respect, and it is uncommon for such incidents involving young people to occur. Notably, Israeli law mandates that young women over the age of 18 undergo two years of military service, and young men over 18 undergo three years of service. Although many civilians possess automatic weapons and pistols, it is not using for these weapons to be used against fellow civilians.
The Israeli security forces are closely monitoring this situation, and we urge Sri Lankans to follow the safety measures outlined below until the situation stabilizes.
Foreign workers who will receive their salaries in the coming days should travel in groups whenever possible when traveling to send money back to Sri Lanka.
Keep your wallet and jewelry secure when traveling.
Safeguard your mobile phones and refrain from using them while traveling on the roads.
In case of any emergency, dial the Israeli Police Civil Affairs Emergency Number, 100, and provide your location.
For medical emergencies, call the Israeli Ambulance Service at 101, which is available free of charge.
Sri Lankans in Israel are also encouraged to contact the Embassy hotline for any emergency assistance. (0094718447305 Whatsapp)
