A woman who allegedly defrauded several Sri Lankan men of about Rs. 5 million by promising them employment opportunities in South Korea, Italy, and New Zealand has been arrested by the Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.

The arrest was made in the Gampaha area yesterday (06), following multiple complaints lodged with the Bureau.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect had collected large sums of money from individuals in various parts of the country, assuring them overseas job placements which never materialized.

According to Bureau officials, eight complaints have so far been received regarding the scam, and further investigations are underway to determine whether more victims have been defrauded.
