The new Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha is scheduled to be elected on the 28th of this month.
Accordingly, the relevant Gazette notification announcing the election has now been issued.
The position became vacant following the assassination of the former Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Lasantha Wickramasekera, who was shot dead inside his office at the Pradeshiya Sabha premises on October 22.
