The raid was carried out at a hotel in the Eppawala–Tegalla area based on intelligence information received by the police.
Police sources further state that the wife of the arrested principal is a National People’s Power (NPP) member of the Peliyagoda Local Government body.
The two suspects, aged 54 and 22, are residents of the same locality. According to police investigations, the suspects are believed to have been engaged in heroin trafficking for an extended period.
Further inquiries are underway under the supervision of the Anuradhapura Police Division.
