The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has announced that applications are now open for the 10th intake of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme (IFSL) for students who passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2022, 2023, or 2024.

Eligible students can apply online through www.studentloans.mohe.gov.lk
 from November 1 to November 30, 2025. The scheme allows students to follow English-medium degree programmes offered by recognized non-state higher education institutes.

Applicants must have three simple passes in one sitting at the A/L examination and be under 25 years of age as of November 1, 2025. The maximum loan amount is Rs. 1.5 million, while an additional Rs. 75,000 per year will be provided as a living allowance.

The loan is interest-free, with repayment to be made over 12 years, including a one-year grace period after completing the degree. Students must maintain at least 80% attendance and obtain a minimum credit pass in all compulsory subjects to remain eligible.
