
They engaged in a broad dialogue aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, and technology. Mr Premadasa proposed the establishment of a Trade Facilitation Working Group under the India–Sri Lanka Joint Economic Commission to enhance trade and investment flows. He also suggested the creation of an India–Sri Lanka Integrated Industrial and Technology Trade Zone in Sri Lanka dedicated to Indian industries.
Additionally, opposition leader proposed forming a Sri Lanka–CII Business Council to identify priority sectors for collaboration, including renewable energy, agro-processing, logistics, tourism, and semiconductors.
