The traffic on the Colombo–Kandy main road will be restricted due to the construction work related to the Central Expressway Project.
According to the police,, a bridge is scheduled to be built from the Kadawatha Bandarawatta area to the Colombo–Kandy main road in two phases, from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
During the first phase, one lane of the two-lane road from Kadawatha Bandarawatta towards Colombo will be closed.
In the second phase, one lane of the two-lane road from Kandy towards Colombo will be closed to facilitate construction work.
The police have warned that traffic congestion is likely on this stretch throughout the construction period as only one lane will remain open.
Motorists are advised to use the Kadawatha Outer Ring Road as much as possible to avoid delays during this time.
