The woman who falsely claimed to be the sister of a Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) and obstructed traffic police duties in Gampaha has been further remanded until November 10 by the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect was arrested after a video circulated on social media showing her in a heated argument with two traffic officers in the Kotugoda–Udugampola area.
Police said the woman, who was driving a car, initially ignored orders to stop and drove away. She was later intercepted at Udugampola Junction, where the confrontation occurred, and was eventually arrested at Minuwangoda Police Junction after again disregarding police instructions.
Investigations revealed that her claim of being related to a high-ranking police officer was false.
The woman has been charged with dangerous and negligent driving, disobeying police orders, and obstructing a public servant from performing official duties.
