Four young Sri Lankan athletes have brought pride to the nation by winning two gold medals and one silver medal at the Asian Cup Rowing Championship held in Shangrao, China, from October 30 to November 1.

The championship saw the participation of over 400 rowing athletes from 14 Asian countries.

The victorious Sri Lankan team — Havishka Perera, Vethmi Weeraratne, Imandi Mahawatte, and Menoli Yatigammana — returned to the island on the night of November 2 via Katunayake Airport.

Three of the rowers, Perera, Weeraratne, and Mahawatte, are 15-year-old students of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, while the fourth member studies at British College, Colombo.
