Fair weather will prevail across most parts of the island

According to the Department of Meteorology, temperatures in several parts of the island are expected to rise to a level requiring caution The Department of Meteorology says that mainly fair weather will prevail across most parts of the island today (03).

Weather Forecast for November

According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva Provinces after 2.00 p.m. Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected in some places in these provinces during the midnight and early morning hours.

The Department requests the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast

Mainly fair weather will also prevail in the sea areas around the island during the next 24 hours.

Winds: South-westerly or variable in direction, with speeds between 20–30 kmph.

Wind speeds may increase up to 40–45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.

State of the Sea: These sea areas will be moderate at times, while other sea areas around the island will remain slight.
