SL team returns home after winning 7 Medals at Asian Junior Athletics Championships

The Sri Lankan team that brought glory to the nation by winning seven medals at the 3rd Asian Junior Athletics Championships has returned to the country.

The championship, which concluded recently in Bahrain, saw participation from athletes representing 45 Asian countries. The Sri Lankan contingent excelled, securing one gold medal, one silver medal, and five bronze medals.

Lahiru Achintha of St. Aloysius’ National School, Ratnapura, won the gold medal in the men’s 1,500-meter event, marking a proud achievement for Sri Lanka.

The victorious team arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake  from Dubai.

Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage and Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakaratne, along with several officials, were present at the airport to warmly welcome the returning athletes.
