The Department of Meteorology forecasts that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district, after 2.00 p.m. today.

Mainly fair weather will prevail in most other areas of the island. Misty conditions can be expected in the early hours of the morning, particularly in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)

Fair weather is expected to prevail in the sea areas around the island.

Winds: Variable in direction, with speeds between 20–30 kmph, increasing up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of Sea: The sea areas off Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be moderate at times, while the other sea areas will remain slight.
