A major change is expected in the administrative post of the Sei Lanka Police.

The current Police Administrative position — second only to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) — is held by Senior DIG Lalith Pathinayake, who is in charge of the Central Province. However, according to sources, he is to be removed from this position due to certain issues that have arisen in the past.

Accordingly, Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne, currently in charge of the Western Province, is expected to be appointed to the top administrative post.

Meanwhile, Senior DIG Sajeewa Medawatte is to be appointed as the Senior DIG of the Western Province, succeeding Dharmaratne.

The transfer is to be made with the approval of the National Police Commission, and the official announcement is expected to be issued by the IGP today (01).
