The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced that, effective today, vendors are prohibited from distributing shopping bags free of charge.
According to an extraordinary gazette notification issued on October 1, traders must indicate the price of shopping bags on all bills issued to customers.
The regulation specifies that container bags made of low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LDPE) cannot be given free of charge. In addition, businesses are required to clearly display the price of these bags at their premises for public awareness.
