Sri Lanka has officially issued appointment letters for 700 nurse graduates to join the internship and collaborative training program, marking the first intake of its kind in four years. The announcement was made under the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Minister Dr. Jayatissa stated that this year, a total of 4,141 nurses have been recruited into the country’s healthcare service, making it the largest intake in the history of Sri Lanka’s nursing sector.

He further added that an additional 2,600 nurses are scheduled to be recruited in the near future. Currently, approximately 43,500 personnel serve in the country’s nursing workforce.

The last intake of nurse graduates for the internship and collaborative training program was conducted in 2021.
