The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to temporarily suspend its planned islandwide strike, which was scheduled to begin at 8.00 a.m. today (31).

According to GMOA sources, the decision was taken following a telephone discussion held with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa earlier this morning.

The discussion reportedly focused on several key concerns raised by the GMOA regarding health sector reforms, promotions, and service-related issues. The Minister is said to have assured the union that steps would be taken to address their grievances through constructive dialogue.

As a result, the GMOA announced that the strike action would be temporarily halted, pending the outcome of further discussions with the Health Ministry.
