The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says Sri Lanka’s economy is expected to grow by 3.1% in 2026, reflecting continued recovery supported by economic reforms.

Thomas Helbling, Deputy Director of the IMF’s Asia-Pacific Department, stated that the government’s reform program is helping stabilize the economy and ensure sustainable growth. He added that Sri Lanka recorded 5% growth in 2024, while growth in the first half of 2025 is projected at 4.8%, surpassing initial expectations.
