A Saudi Arabian passenger was arrested for allegedly assaulting cabin crew members aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL266 from Riyadh to Colombo on October 26.

A video circulating on social media shows the tense mid-air incident, during which crew members attempted to restrain the unruly passenger. According to preliminary investigations by the Katunayake Airport Police, the altercation occurred as the aircraft was preparing to land, when all passengers are required to remain seated with seat belts fastened.

The suspect had reportedly tried to go to the lavatory, violating safety regulations, and became aggressive when the cabin crew intervened. The confrontation was recorded by other passengers on their mobile phones.

Airport Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested upon the flight’s arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, and legal action has since been taken.
