දිවයිනට ඊසාන දෙසින් බෙංගාල බොක්ක මුහුදු ප්රදේශයේ පවතින "මොන්තා" චණ්ඩ සුළිකුණාටුව, අද දින (2025 ඔක්තෝබර් 28 වන දින) උදෑසන 8.30 පමණ වන විට කන්කසන්තුරය සිට කිලෝමීටර 720 ක් පමණ ඊසාන දෙසින් අක්ෂාංශ 14.9° N සහ දේශාංශ 82.9° E ආසන්නයේ කේන්ද්රගත වී පැවතුනි.
මෙම පද්ධතිය උතුරට බරව වයඹ දිශාවට ගමන් කරමින් අද සවස/රාත්රියේ දී අන්ද්රා ප්රදේශ් වෙරළ තීරය හරහා ගමන්කරනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS
The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Montha” over the Bay of Bengal, to the northeast of the island, lay centered near latitude 14.9°N and longitude 82.9°E, about 720 km northeast of Kankasanturai at 8.30 am today, the 28 October 2025.
It is likely to move nearly north-northwestwards and it is very likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast during the evening/night today.
Naval and fishing communities are warned not to venture to the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Batticaloa via Trincomalee, during next 24 hours.
Naval and fishing communities, engaging activities over the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanturai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
Condition of Rain:
A few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kaluthara via Colombo.
Winds:
Winds will be westerly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 65 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Batticaloa via Trincomalee.
Wind speed can increase up to (55-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Wind speed can increase up to 55 kmph at times in the other sea areas around the island.
State of Sea:
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Batticaloa via Trincomalee can be very rough at times.
The other sea areas around the island will be rough at times.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
