According to police, the lawyer had supplied the Penal Code book which was later used to hide the firearm linked to the murder incident. Investigations have revealed that the weapon was concealed in a hollowed-out section of the book while Sewwandi was in custody.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is conducting further investigations to determine whether the lawyer had knowingly assisted in obstructing justice by helping the suspect destroy or hide vital evidence.
Police noted that more suspects connected to the murder and subsequent cover-up could be arrested as investigations progress.
