Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Sunil Handunnetti has emphasized the urgent need to establish an Investigations and Raids Unit within the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) to enhance transparency, oversight, and accountability in the mineral sector.
The minister made this announcement during his visit to the GSMB headquarters in Nawala yesterday (28), where he held discussions with officials on long-standing operational challenges. During the meeting, officials briefed the minister on several issues, including employee grievances, delays in license processing, legal complications, and transport difficulties affecting the bureau’s efficiency.
