Red Wings, one of Russia’s ten largest airlines specializing in scheduled and charter passenger transport, has commenced its winter flight operations to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) with six weekly flights. Additionally, every ten days, one extra flight will operate.

The airline will utilize a Boeing 777-200 with a seating capacity of 412. Today’s inaugural winter season flight, carrying 402 international tourists, landed at MRIA at 12.10 hrs and was ceremonially welcomed with a water cannon salute by Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Private) Limited (AASL).

Key stakeholders, including Aitken Spence Travel, are actively engaged with Red Wings, facilitating passenger handling and promoting Sri Lanka as a premier tourist destination. Tropical Aviation Services serves as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Red Wings Airlines at MRIA.

Red Wings has scheduled flights to Mattala until April 2026, expecting around 130 flights during the winter season.
