Over 10 years after its establishment, the Delimitation Commission has yet to clearly define its functions, responsibilities, and powers, according to the Annual Detailed Management Audit Report (2024), which is set to be issued to the Chief Accounting Officer on 11 June 2025.

The Commission was established by the President on 13 November 2015 to determine electoral boundaries within Sri Lanka. However, the audit highlighted that attention is needed to clearly outline its roles and complete assigned tasks within a specified timeframe.

The Chief Accounting Officer accepted the observation made in the report.

The audit recommended that the Commission take immediate action to adhere to its original objectives and perform its functions efficiently to ensure timely completion of its mandate.
